Hector J Sanguino Jr. was born in Convención, Colombia. His dream to become a writer began in High school, when friends would ask him to write their love letters or help them with essays. However, due to economic difficulties, his early stories and imaginary tales written in pencil were forgotten and would remain unpublished. Years later, once he finished high school, Sanguino began to write again, but this time he would compose love songs, many of which have been registered. In 2006 he published his first novel, Una odisea criolla, a love story, in which many obstacles to finding happiness in love are examined. When the protagonist finally believes to have found happiness, he realizes this it’s but fleeting and complete happiness is unattainable. Six months after the publication of his debut novel, Sanguino emigrated to Canada to pursue a job opportunity. In 2008 he published Las pistas del diablo, a true story based on the terror produced by the marijuana’s mafia in a small village in the South of the Guajira, Colombia. This novel would be followed by Un bello sueño (2008), a children's story, which obtained second prize in the Hispanic-American Literary contest in Calgary, Canada. In 2009, Sanguino published La misión de los elegidos, a biography in which he examines the experiences of a prisoner and the reason why she killed three men. Two years later, in 2011, he published Las secuelas de la traición, a tale of eroticism, survival, love, betrayal and revenge. In 2013 Sanguino published Las manchas del diamante, an erotic story based on the memories of Walter Ruffo, a writer amateur. A True Odyssey, a biography based on the life of a man marked by his destiny, is Sanguino’s first novel written in English.
